In 2021 Four Horsemen released Mythic Legions All Star Wave 4. All-star waves see rereleases of fan vote winning figs and a few special figs including Masters Of The Universe Tributes. Brophytus is their tribute to Mossman. Flocking and all.
FROM THE CREATORS: Deep in the hidden hills of Xylonia lies a mysterious region called the Swale. With an ecosystem all its own that teems with enigmatic creatures rarely seen by the outside world, the Swale thrive beneath the watch of a heroic protector named Bryophythus. A lichen orc with the power to absorb and redirect the power of the plant life around him, Bryophytus serves as a shining example known for bringing order and peace to the land.

Mythic Legions, a line that I am fairly new to, have really impressed me with the quality of their sculpts and the detail of their paint applications. (Four Horsemen may be the best in the business for this). This figure is no different in that regard… But it has one other significant detail: Flocking!

The flocking affect looks great. Of course in the areas where there are movable joints there is no flocking but the figure can be posed so that it’s not really an issue.
Speaking of posing, the figure is not the most articulated, no double joints and the second bearded head does limit its options. However, you can still get some decent actions out of him, and I don’t come to legions for articulation. I come for the awesome looking fantasy characters.

If you spend a few mins posing Bryophytus you will notice a scattering of the flocking around him, it definitely comes off. So far I’ve not noticed any bald patches and I’m not particularly worried but I will handle him less just in case

In addition to the extra head, Bryophytus comes with a staff, pauldrons, mace, belt, sheath and dagger

I always think the pauldrons are weird when a figure is bare chested but they still look cool. Plus one of the best things about legions is the ability to mix and match parts between figures. So while my Bryophytus won’t be wearing them on the shelf, I will make use of them in a future photo.

All in all he’s a really nice figure. Great details, 2 fantastic headscultps and a nice smattering of useful accessories.
While he is an orc of sorts I see him as more of a loner so I’ll have to find a good place for him on the shelf by himself.

Legions are a nightmare to buy in the UK, pre-ordering is the best way but even then not many retailers stock them. However I got this figure from the fabulous Into The Verse Toys.
