Plunderlings were first launched as a Kickstarter campaign by Lone Coconut a few years back. Unfortunately I missed that but I was able to pick up two figures afterwards at retail and I absolutely loved them.
Another Kickstarter is now under way for some larger figures (Plunderlong & Plunderstrong, of course) to go with these guys ending 16th April 2022. This got me excited, so I backed that Kickstarter and also grabbed one more Plunderling. This time I went for the slightly creepy, but still adorable Zombone. Let’s check him out.
FROM THE CREATORS: Take a little bit of monster, a little bit of pirate, mix it together with heaps if infectious charm, and you’ve got yourself a Plunderling! These greedy adorable pirates travel from island to island, looking for treasure and mischief. At 1:12 scale, these high quality figures measure 3 4/5-inches tall (without a hat) and have over 25 points of articulation, making posing them a snap. With three different themes (Captain, Nomad, and Feral), the Plunderlings come in a variety of colors and each includes multiple heads, hands, and accessories, including a magnetic hat!

Plunderling’s all come in a unique, cube shaped package matching the character inside. It even includes some ears in the box that can be added to it. For those of you who display toys in their boxes it makes for a really nice display case. It also opens easily so you can pop him back in after opening.

I don’t keep packaging but I found it difficult to throw these in the recycle bin. Well, not that difficult. For me its what’s in the box that I really care about and this little guy does not disappoint.

Like all Plunderlings, Zombone comes with three heads with different expressions which I consider to be:
1. Planning mischief. 2. Thinking about mischief. 3. Causing mischief
All Plunderlings figs typically all have the same expressions, which I don’t mind but some may find limiting.

He also comes with a creepy skull mask and a bone club for clobbering enemies. He has two open hands and two holding hands.

All Plunderling’s come with some sort of headwear. The hats, masks, hair etc are all cross compatible and stay on nicely with magnets. I really love the skull mask which gives Zombone a slightly darker feel.

Articulation is great for a smaller figure. The head is on a ball joint, knees are double jointed and ankles have rockers and hinges. Elbows are single jointed but movement is good, wrists swivel and hinge, shoulders rotate 360 and hinge.

The feet are very large which can make posing in running positions tricky but I managed most poses I wanted.

There is definitely fun to be had if you have a few of these. I really enjoyed bringing all three together for this shot.

Zombone could look a bit unfinished with him just being white but some nice black/grey shading in the ears and around the knees and elbows really helps make the white pop. Overall the paint work here is top quality.

So with these figures, once you have one you sort of know what you are getting… but what you are getting is one of these cute yet mean looking goblins that are unlike any other toy line I have come across. I cant wait for Plunderlong’s and Plunderstrong’s to join my crew!

I bought my Plunderling’s from Props & Replicas in the UK. I believe they are also still in stock at Big Bad Toy Store for US based folks.
