Mezco’s in house brand of 1:12 scale figures, Rumble Society, are a strange gang dominated by skull headed goons and the roach headed hero Gomez. Outside of those there is an eclectic band of misfits, some of which appeal to me some of which do not… Atticus Doom however has me spellbound

FROM THE CREATORS: Atticus Doom, Necromagus Prime, joins the Rumble Society! An occult private eye infused with eldritch powers, Atticus Doom is Rumble Society’s supreme sorcerer. Being a dedicated disciple of the unknown, he is eternally tethered to the Necroverse by his supernatural left hand. His power is immense. His knowledge is vast. His agendas are questionable

Atticus Doom certainly fits his billing of occult detective, though most of his accessories tip the scales more to the side of sorcerer than private eye. Perhaps a magnifying glass or notebook would have been a nice addition! Regardless, the accessories are abundant, awesome and even a little absurd

Accessories included are varied and interesting, even the hands.

Several hands are included on top of usual fists, open hands and holding hands including a lobster claw, snake fingers and a bendy tentacle. lots of great options especially when paired with his Cthulhu like second head sculpt.
My favourite accessory is his grimoire which has real pages with some creepy imagery.

Atticus comes with two portals. one attaches to the wrist rather than a hand, and the other has a wrist peg Including a red cuff to match his sleeve. This allows for fun shots like these

There’s even a bonus small stand with an articulated arm to hold the portal up. You can’t see it here though thanks to my super awesome photo editing skills. I did want to mention the lovely artwork on the main stand – it really reminds me of Franco Francavilla or Mike Mignola – I would love to know who it’s by if anyone knows.

Articulation wise Atticus is decent, maybe not as good as some other Mezco’s. He seems to have double jointed elbows and knees. good arm movement and his trousers do not hinder legs too much. The coat does limit his arm movement a little of course and the head can’t look up or down very far. I got him in to most poses I wanted though.

Im a sucker for skeleton action figures so this guy appealed to me right out of the gate. Its a very different look, not the usual skeleton style but I like it. The addition of a turban reallys gives him a unique aesthetic, unlike anything else in my collection.

Not only is it an excellent sculpt but the turban can be removed to reveal a brain…with an eye. Both of which can also be removed

I think its the trench coat that really finishes the look and helps with the detective element of his style. Its nicely wired along the bottom and through the belt.

After the book the next best accessory is probably the walking stick, a skull and occult symbols providing an amazing level of detail. He also has a a couple of different ways of holding it and both look good

Now when the situation demands, Atticus can summon darker powers. To demonstrate that we can give him his demonic head and appendages.

I may be one of the last people who ordered this figure from Mezco to actually receive it. It took an age to ship and I saw many others receive theirs before me. Not only that but the box was very badly damaged when it arrived and missing the comic that was advertised. I then managed to break an arm and an accessory with minimal use (I’m using sticky tack in many of thes pics to hold his left hand on)
Mezco have responded to me and offered to replace all missing and damaged elemts which is great.

Regardless, the figure was worth the wait. I had lots of fun shooting it and there are so many fun things to do with him. On the negative side, some of his elaborate hands are a little hard to connect and his pose-ability is not the best But that’s it.
Amazing character, very well made with lots of good parts. If you can still get one anywhere I thoroughly recommend it.
