Marvel content is coming thick and fast this year, Spider-Man No Way Home was still doing big box office numbers at the start of the year, we have had Moon Knight and Doctor Strange already and trailers for Ms Marvel & She Hulk dropped recently too .
The fourth Thor (Thorth?) movie is the next MCU film to arrive on cinema screens though. Thor Love & Thunder is released in July but we already have a few LEGO sets available. I picked up Attack on New Asgard 76207 from the LEGO store for £17.99, let’s check it out.
FROM THE CREATORS: A monster treat for Thor fans.
Marvel fans join Thor and Mighty Thor as they battle the Shadow Monster from Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder . Iconic Marvel characters and action. The 159-piece set includes Thor, Mighty Thor and Gur minifigures. The buildable Shadow Monster has jointed arms and claws.

The set contains 3 minifigs and a brick built monster. No small side builds such as vehicles or terrain, all the parts budget goes into the monster. Great in theory. However, despite all the part usage, it still looks sort of … rubbish, right?

The “shadow” monster has not been shown in trailers so maybe this is a perfect representation of what we will see in the movie. That seems unlikely though. Regardless, I don’t like it very much, particularly the design of it’s bottom half.

The mix of greens, browns and black pieces used to construct some sort of base for the head, neck and arms just looks a mess to me. What is it? Are the vines legs? Is it a plant? Oh a Shadow Monster, right.
I do kind of like the look of the head, it’s sort of goofy looking and brings a smile to my face. It does not match the name “Shadow Monster” though. Maybe that will be a joke in the film.

The real value here is in the mini figures. The 3 included figures also come in a larger set from LEGO, so it’s good that kids (and us AFOLS of course) getting the smaller set still get these versions of the main characters.

The Mighty Thor (Lady Thor?) is the standout figure here. It’s the first time we have had any version of this character and she looks great

A really great design which looks like an accurate likeness for the character seen in the trailer, lovely printing and a great helmet too
Thor has a new look. His costume is much more brightly coloured than previous iterations with blue and gold. Not my favourite look for him but LEGO have done a good job in making a LEGOfied version of his new look from the film.

Much like in another Thor set I reviewed recently there is a figure who could be useful for custom fantasy stuff. The torso is Mummy like and the head could work as all sorts of evil doers. Gorr, or Gur as the LEGO description calls him, has basic printing but I like it.

Gorr is a great character from recent-ish comics. I’m excited to see how he turns out in the movie. I’m happy to have this LEGO minifig version of him.

All in all I can’t really recommend this set because the main model is genuinely poor. It might be ok for kids who have seen the move. It has some claws that can hold the heroes which can be fun. But that’s about it.

The price is low(ish) for 3 good figures, I am especially happy to get a female Thor minifig. It’s just a shame the shadow monster is so derpy looking and such an uninspired design. I had fun with the set regardless of its flaws.

Nice
