Ive got my hands on yet another Spider-man themed figure and its another that I was excited to see announced earlier this year. Now I have it lets see if my excitement was justified.

FROM THE CREATORS:
Desperate to be whole again, geneticist Curt Connors injects himself with a regenerative serum derived from reptile DNA, only to find himself transformed into the monstrous Lizard!
This Marvel’s Lizard figure features textured sculpt and deco inspired by the character’s classic appearances throughout Marvel Entertainment, and includes alternate hands, head, and 2 beakers to show the mutated geneticist at work!

The Lizard is a classic Spider-man villain and one of my personal favourites. I remember reading a reprint of Amazing Spider-Man #6 (his first appearance) over and over as a kid. So the first thing I wanted to do was an homage to one of the scenes from that comic

Crocodile minions is so stupid in retrospect but adolescent Freethegeekman loved it and therefore he still does now thanks to an over reliance on nostalgia!
What about the figure and actually reviewing it though? OK, lets get to that.
First up… here is my Rapid Review video:
Now, on to the review proper. Lizard comes packed with 2 very different heads. Both are really nicely sculpted and with a fantastic paint application that really brings out the details in the sculpt. Its a shame the neck and tail don’t have quite the same level of paint detail, they still look good though.

The good Dr. Connors has double jointed pin-less limbs which is the new gold standard for Marvel Legends. No excuses for all figures not getting this treatment now Hasbro!
He also has 2 pairs of hands, two open crawling hands, a fist and a holding hand . Whats he going to hold you ask?

His Lizard tail pops on and off fairly easily, but its not a problem and offers good articulation thanks to a flexible material that will let you bend it to different positions… though maybe not as much as I thought it would

Lets loop back to the two heads that come included. First up the one with no protruding tongue.

This face does look a little goofy, but its a great representation of that early comic appearance Lizard and I love it because of that. Its got a charm to it which I cannot really explain. Will I display it with that head? No. I’ll be displaying it with the more modern, more ferocious & frankly… more tongue infused head.

This iteration of The Lizard is smaller than previous releases that had more modern, beastly proportions. But again, based on that classic appearance this scales perfectly for me. Make him bigger and it would make characters known for their size, like Rhino, less imposing.

His tail and and big old reptile feet help give him a little bulk anyway.

The beakers he comes with are fun accessories. The conical flask with pink liquid is best, the other, round beaker (Florence Flask?) is not quite as good since the “chemical” inside is cylindrical and therefore does not fill the space realistically.

I think its probably a little on the pricey side, do two hands and two flasks really make this a deluxe figure? But its harder to be unhappy about a few extra pounds (or dollars, or euro) when the figure is this good. Nit-picking a little for a figure at this price range… It would be nice if more of the figure had the extra details that the head gets. Maybe a wash on the trousers to bring out sculpted details.

Lizard is a well detailed figure with excellent articulation and is accompanied by a good selection of accessories. So if you like Marvel legends and want this classic villain I do not think you will be disappointed.
