In 2022 I picked up a wide range of action figures and shot photos of lots of them so I thought I would rank my 5 favourites. Now these are my personal favourites from those that actually bought. I’m sure there are better figures out there that I didn’t get (Haslab Galactus!) but I’m not ranking figures I didn’t get!
Don’t like reading? 1. Why are you here? 2. Here is a video summary of my top 5.
#5 Storm Shadow (Hasbro. GI Joe Classified)
First up, I do not collect GI Joe figures. However, I’ve picked up the odd one that I thought would work as generic background characters or that have fun animal companions. This one, turned up in the post last year and I had completely forgotten that I had even pre-ordered it. What a pleasant surprise that was!

Storm Shadow is a cool looking ninja, that’s all I know about him and I don’t care to know any more. I had loads of fun posing this guy. he only has one pair of hands but they are multi-purpose; working fine with his bow and swords. GI Joe continue to be a better value figure on the market than many other lines.

#4 The Lizard (Hasbro. Marvel Legends)
The First Marvel character in a list dominated by that IP is this retro Lizard. Spiderman figures are the main Marvel Legends I collect and Lizard is one of my all time favourite villains. I love the fact he comes with the (slightly goofy) 1st appearance head and another more modern head.

Lizard is nicely posable and comes with some fun flask accessories for some mad scientist fun. I reviewed this one so you can see all my thoughts here.

#3 Wolverine (Mezco. One:12 Collective)
When Mezco get it right they really get it right. This Wolverine comes jam packed with accessories and options. I started taking photos for a review but just never got enough to justify it since he has so many parts to get in photos. I might still pop up a short review at some point.

Loads of different heads, different hands and a fantastic Sentinel display base make this a stunning figure with lots of display options. Like all Mezcos, you pay for those options and thats probably the only thing stopping this moving up another place.
#2 Renew Your Vows Spider-Man (Hasbro. Marvel Legends)
Hasbro released a lot of Spider-man figures this year due to the 60th Anniversary of that character. Some were on the fairly recent “retro” body which was great, and some on new body moulds, which upped the game a little more. My favourrite was this one that came in a 2 Pack with Spinneret.

He came with a good selection of hands, a Peter Parker head & the new mould here is amazing (pun intended). Pinless joints are a big win on a Spidey figure, because usually the pins are red on blue arms and they really stand out. Couple that with toe articulation and we have a Spidey figure that gives me everything I need. Check out my review of the two pack for more of my thoughts.
#1 Atticus Doom (Mezco. One:12 Collective)
Atticus Doom is a figure I was very excited to get and once I got my hands on him he did not disappoint. One of Mezcos own in-house characters (from their Rumble Society range) this “Occult detective” is a really original character, a mix of noir private eye and Cthulhu themed skeleton sorcerer.

He comes with loads of accessories (which I covered at length in my review) and there was even an additional accessory pack that I was not lucky enough to get my hands on. But what he came with in the box was impressive. The soft goods are well made and I had endless fun posing and reposing this guy.

So there we have it, 5 cool toys that I bought in 2022. I may do a LEGO list as well but I’ve not yet built 2 sets that I think could make my list. So I will wait!
