LEGO recently released an impressive Dungeons and Dragons set that I was lucky enough to pick up on release day. It’s a big old set so I am still building it. However I did take a short break to build the Gift With Purchase (GWP) that came free with it.
I didn’t plan to take photos of this Mimic Dice Box,, normally I mainly just shoot minifigures and this is definitely not minifig scale. Once I had finished building it though I was quite impressed and a few ideas popped in my head and I couldn’t resist.
Make Mine a Mimic
This is not A review as such, you can’t buy the set and let’s face it, it’s just a box that looks like an evil chest monster. The set was available when buying LEGO Red Dragon’s Tale but Its already sold out.

It was a fun little build with lots of SNOT building involved. Its big enough to easily store a full set of D&D Dice.
It’s not as big as you might expect though, see it below next to some dice. Its only real feature is lid (mouth) opens. But it looks the part that’s for sure.

The Mimic easily holds a full set of D&D dice though so it does its job and looks the part.

Just a Chest
It would have been nice if the Dice box could have had a feature to allow it to be converted into a regular chest. Either with some swap-able parts or even better a transformation, but as it stands it looks pretty great.

A Mimic is one of those gloriously ridiculous D&D creatures and I think LEGO captured it really well here.

More Photos
I had some fun playing with some 6 inch action figures with the chest. However I’m not a fan of mixing LEGO with action figures in photos too much so I tried to minimise how much the action figures showed up in shot.

The gripping hands hold his huge great sword neatly, with the sword being held fast without ever worrying the plastic fingers could snap.

Ill be finishing the Main D&D set soon and hopefully back with some photos of that later this month.
