Mythic Legions are probably my favorite toy line of all those I have tried. There’s nothing more I really want from them… however, when I saw this kit available to use with a Mythic 2.0 skeleton my opinion changed slightly. Yes, my skeletons need clothes! I ordered one to check out, yes, its been out for a while but there is no harm in being fashionably late.

I didn’t really think my Skeletons needed clothes, in fact I love those legions Skeleton 2.0 figures because they are full skeletal bodies unlike the earlier ones that had armor. But I have a few different kinds now and I like being able to mix them up.
The Kai Lab set came in a small plastic case, very minimal packaging. But its a reusable box so you can put the clothes back in there when your skeleton wants to go naked again.

You can see a lot of care has gone into crafting each item, delicate stitching everywhere. The trousers are probably the most ragged looking but thart works for a skeleton figure.
The belts have detailed clasps which look very nice close up. And on the long thin belt it even has a working buckle.

Button Up
Right, I never played with dolls, except for my daughters a little when she was small and getting clothes on them is something I always found difficult. That was no different with this set. Of course Legions pop apart which made things much easier but it did take a little time to get everything on in a way that looked correct.

You have to move limbs into a workable position and then carefully move them back so they are in a usable position again. I never felt like I was going to damage the clothes though, they felt well made.
The shirt, or “gambeson” was the most difficult item to maneuver on, but it was satisfying when it finally stuck in place. It fits tight, which is good, we don’t want our toys wearing badly fitted baggy clothes, especially when layering up.

The chain mail is only vaguely difficult to get on because the shirt is already on but it wasn’t too bad. I found myself fiddling for a bit trying to get the sleeves to look like they did in promo images. I got there in the end.
The final, most fiddly belt was the long thin belt. The thick belt was easy, that has a nice bit of velcro at the back and it really pulls the whole look together, literally, by actually pulling all the clothes in at the waist and giving them shape.

But that thin belt, getting it though the buckle was OK, its just a very small thing to move, but getting it through the belt loops, I couldn’t do it. I tried tweezers but eventually gave up and passed it over to my wife, she managed it with thr tweezers in the end. There are now a few cracks on the leather there, but that does add more realism I suppose.
Knit Picking
There’s not much negative to say about this set, it gave me exactly what I hoped for. If I were to nitpick however, the armored hood is a little annoying. It has a point at the back that I wish want there. no amount of fiddling could make it round out in a realistic way.

However, I was surprised by the quality of the clothes, I didn’t notice any noticeable fraying that I have seen in some soft goods and the fit is excellent. Movement is restricted a little but you would not expect anything less from something like this. I was still able to get some good poses.
Hats Off to Kai Lab
This set is impressive, the details are really well done, the outfit fits the figure perfectly and the leather belts provide additional holsters for weapons. I’ll definitely be looking out for more Kai Lab sets for my Legions.
